8/14/2014 - Veste Oberhaus in Passau

The highlight of our day (until the schnitzel and sausages, of course) was Veste Oberhaus, a fortress built in 1219, which held off invaders for the Episcopal bishops. Some of the attacks came from their subjects in Passau.  From below it looks like there are huge windows where there are none.  You can zoom into the pictures and see that there are windows painted on the right side of the fortress,  some with smaller real windows inside them.

A pedestrian bridge goes over the Danube, then steps lead up the mountain to the fortress that afford great views of Passau. Sue logged 10,000 steps (and an additional 14294 steps before the day was over) on her SHealth Samsung app.
